about

Compiled from original live coded performances and jamsessions recorded between 2019 and 2021. Each track was coded live in one full performance, ranging from 15 to 45 minutes. All selected recordings have been edited to a track of 4 to 9 minutes, (re-)arranging the best parts of the performance. The music and sounds were coded with the Mercury live coding environment running in Max8. The titles of the tracks are chemical reactions or molecular structures, inspired by my fascination for nature, organisms and science. The visuals for the artworks were coded with the Max8 Jitter programming environment. Al-kīmiyā comes from the Arabic word for Alchemy ("the chemistry"). Alchemists attempted to purify, mature, and perfect certain materials with common aims such as creating gold, elixer of immortality, and curing any disease.
